Honestly? Any style that feels right for you. There's no such thing as a "gay wedding ring" as a category, there's just the ring you love. To make the search a little easier, we've pulled together a selection based on what our LGBTQ+ customers actually choose, plus the trends we see among same-sex couples.

Some couples want identical rings. Others go for coordinated ones, sharing a metal or a finish, but with different widths and details. Wider bands are popular, while diamond bands, eternity styles, and subtle flush-set diamonds are a great alternative to a traditional solitaire. Classic gold and platinum bands are perennial favorites. And if nothing off the shelf feels quite right, our jewelers can design something from scratch that's entirely your own.

You absolutely can and plenty of couples do. Shopping together makes it much easier to nail the style and the ring size, especially if you both want a ring.

Still want the proposal to be a surprise? Propose with one ring, then pick the second engagement ring, or your wedding bands, together afterward.

Only if you want them to. Some couples love a matching set; others pick two completely different designs and wouldn't have it any other way.

If you want your rings to feel connected without being twins, try sharing one detail, the same metal, the same finish, the same profile. At the end of the day, each ring should suit the person wearing it.

Some do, some don't. You might wear an engagement ring and add a wedding band at the ceremony, or choose one ring that becomes your wedding ring. Both are completely traditional now.

They can. Sometimes one partner proposes; sometimes both wear engagement rings; sometimes there are two separate proposals; sometimes you skip the surprise and shop together. There are no rules here for gay, lesbian, or queer couples - follow tradition, or write your own.

Worth noting: in Ben Garelick's survey of 500 same-sex couples, 30% said they had a double proposal.

Entirely up to you. Add a wedding band alongside it, keep wearing the engagement ring on its own, or move it to your other hand - all common choices. Some couples use the same ring for both the engagement and the marriage.

If you're planning to stack, think about the shape and width of both rings early on so they sit comfortably together for the next fifty years.

Gender-neutral engagement rings are about personal style, not the men's or women's side of the case. Think wider bands, bezel-set diamonds, signet-inspired shapes, and clean geometric settings.

That said, any ring can be gender-neutral. If the design feels right for the person wearing it, that's the only test that matters.
